In keeping with fall decorating, my dining room would not be complete without a centerpiece for the table.
Years ago, I had the privilege of working in a craft store, and I was fortunate enough to learn how to make centerpieces and wreaths from a professional.
I hope you will see in this post that you don't need to be intimidated or think that you could never put together a centerpiece, YOU CAN!
I encourage thrifting or shopping on a budget. Watch the after-season sales, second-hand stores, garage sales, and of course, your discount stores.
Dollar Tree florals are a great place to start. I have noticed in the past year or so that the look of their flowers has really improved, and they have a huge variety to choose from if you get there early enough.
Don't overlook the clearance section at Walmart; you can find some great deals there.
Of course, if you have a local craft store, keep an eye out for their specials, clearance, and coupons.
Start with an inspirational photo or idea, then let your creative spirit run wild and have fun!

This is my fall table runner I just completed. Directions and links are in the "Fall Table Runner" post if you are interested in seeing how this was made, along with a link for the free pattern.

I started with a "whiskey barrel" top, a lantern, and the fall candle I just made as well. The directions for the candle are also in another post. I have some ferry lights here also that I taped to the inside of the lantern.

I didn't like the look of the lantern sitting directly on the whiskey barrel top, so I added some floral foam for dimension.

Next I put set the lantern on the foam, but did not secure it, because I mix, match and reuse my craft supplies in different projects all the time.

Next, I added the fall candle and started adding fall foliage to the foam

I kept adding more flowers and leaves, until I got the look I wanted.

The flowers and leaves were purchased at Walmart and Dollar Tree. The lantern was a gift from my best friend and has been reused in many different projects. I have used these flowers in at least 3 different projects.
I hope you like what was created and truly hope you find some inspiration to make your own centerpiece.
Happy Fall!
